The Muscle Behind Putting Together “World Of Dance”, More NBC Press Day Coverage

Reporter Kristyn Burtt has written a wonderful piece on the “World Of Dance” Cast At The NBC Summer Press Tour yesterday at Dance Network. She writes of how “World Of Dance” is going to take us to whole new level of dance. Here’s a take on how Jennifer Lopez put the show together. Be sure to read the link for lots more.

The muscle behind putting together her “dream team” is none other than Jennifer Lopez, who recruited Derek Hough, Ne-Yo and Jenna Dewan Tatum to join her on this epic adventure. At The NBCUniversal Summer Press Day, the cast sat down to talk about the show that involved contestants from around the globe.

“It’s a dream come true and the perfect job for me,” Lopez says. “The World of Dance competition has been around and to bring this to television, which creates an opportunity for dancers where they can be the stars, where they can be the brand, where they can make a name for themselves.”

JLo remembers her lean days as a dancer when she was starting out. It wasn’t easy when she was eating a slice of pizza as her meal the entire day. This show is a step in the right direction, according to Dewan Tatum.

“We are not only giving the respect to dancers that they deserve, we are also giving them the compensation [they deserve],” she says.

Hough feels like this is a way to give back after having tremendous success on DWTS and beyond.

“It’s an amazing time for dance,” he shares. “Being a part of that movement over the last decade of dancing, I feel like America has been educated. So now this is the next level of a dance show.”
